Worsted yarns

Pentti and Wilhelmi forsted barns are silky smooth and glisten luxuriously. The yarns are especially good for anything that needs a softer feel. They are also great in lace and  surface knitting. Worsted yarn has the fibres combed in the same direction so it feel noticeably softer.

The yarns have 70% Finnish, mostly finnsheep and kainuugrey wool and 30% tencel. Tercel is a silky fibre that brings softness and glisten to the yarn.

Tencel is a wood fiber made from eucalyptus tree cellulose. The production is FSC*-certified, meaning that the lumber industry is responsible. (*Forest Stewardship Council) The making process is environmentally friendly, since the chemicals used for the production can be reused. Eucalyptus grows fast and it can be grown on land that is not suitable for food production. In the future we will also look into the possibility to use Finnish wood fiber but for now it isn't made in a big enough scale to make it usable.

Wool and tercel are a perfect fit, since they share many properties. They are breathable, give off heat and absorb moisture from the skin. Tencel makes yarn more silky. Both materials are naturally antibacterial, ecological and fully biodegradable.
